Bond producer calls Amazon 'bloody idiots' due to the company's plans for a larger universe and a female spin-off
The Wall Street Journal spoke about the state of production of the next installment in the James Bond franchise. WSJ reports that there is a serious conflict between franchise producer Barbara Broccoli, who has been responsible for James Bond for many years, and Amazon, the new owner of the rights to the franchise.
According to WSJ, as of fall 2024 The film still does not have a script, specific ideas and a leading actor. Amazon wants to make a big Marvel-style universe, which includes spin-offs about different characters, including a series for Prime Video with a female agent 007.
In turn, the producer rejected all of Amazon's ideas, and in a conversation with her friends, she completely called the company’s management “damn idiots.” Broccoli insists that the new leading man must be a suitable British man of any race, but Amazon appears to have a different view.
WSJ calls the conflict one between classic 20th-century Hollywood and wealthy Silicon Valley residents , which have reached modern media products. The film was announced back in 2020, but since then its production has not gotten off the ground.
