#Hitman20Years: The legendary first part of The Hitman celebrates its 20th anniversary this month
Hitman turns 20 this month and boasts 70 million lifetime players
November 21 is a significant day for IO Interactive as it marks the release date of Hitman: Codename 47 back in 2000. At the moment, the Hitman series has seven strong games, the eighth, Hitman 3, will be released in January 2021.
Reason enough for IO Interactive to start celebrating early and reveal in a recent blog post that the franchise has amassed 70 million players over its 20-year span >. In 2016, IO Interactive launched their World of Assassination trilogy with Hitman (2016), giving the series a slight soft reboot and introducing an episodic release format and sandbox setting. Hitman 2 (2018) has taken the sandbox concept further with its incredible level design, giving you plenty of ways to get close to your targets and eventually hit them.
IO Interactive invites you to join in the celebration through good old social media and share your favorite memories or fan art using the #Hitman20Years hashtag across all platforms.
