“I wanted the game not to get old”: the founder of Crytek - about the requirements of Crysis

Crytek co-founder and former executive director Cevat Yerli, in a conversation with PC Gamer, commented on the memes surrounding the original Crysis, and also explained why the game was so demanding at the time of its release.

Yerli admitted that the studio wanted make a game that doesn't get old. The developers tried to ensure that Crysis remained graphically relevant many years after release.

According to the former head of Crytek, the maximum graphical settings of Crysis were developed taking into account the hardware of 2010 and later, and their implementation in 2007 was something of a arrogance.

Erli also commented on the meme “Will this or that game work? Crysis? The developer said that this joke amuses him even now.

Crysis was released in 2007 and made a real splash in the gaming industry. In addition to advanced graphics on the CryEngine 2 engine, the shooter offered exciting gameplay with sandbox elements.

Subsequently, the Crytek studio released a standalone add-on Crysis Warhead, as well as the second and third parts. Now the German team is working on the fourth game in the series - development was confirmed in January 2022.
