Leading screenwriter and other key developers Dragon Age: The Veilguard left EA and BIOWARE

Yesterday it became known that BioWare transferred part of the employees to other projects in EA, as she completely focused on the development of MASS Effect 5.

General Director Gary McKay explained that the studio uses a break between development cycles for revising their work. “At this stage, we do not need support for the whole team,” he said. “We transferred many employees to other EA teams, where there were suitable vacancies.”

IGN reported that EA did not dismiss BioWare employees, but moved some of them to similar positions in other units. Another part from the team of the failure Dragon Age was proposed to apply for other positions in the company. But, as it became known today, they left the company.

After that, several employees, including editors Karin West-Uikes, the leading screenwriter Trik Weakes and editor Ryan Cormier, reported their departure from the studio. Producer Jen Chevery and senior system designer Michel Flamm also confirmed their departure.

IGN requested information from EA about the number of employees affected, but the answer was blurry:

Bioware completed work on Dragon Age : The VeilGuard, releasing the last major update. This game, the first in ten years in the series, did not live up to expectations. EA admitted that sales of the game were 50% lower than the planned level.

As for Mass Effect, EA said that BioWare’s main team is working on the new game, including veterans of the original trilogy.
