AMD has submitted new patents for rays tracing for future equipment

In January 2025, NVIDIA introduced several new methods of tracing rays using neural shaders. And that no one should surprise anyone, AMD has submitted similar patents for ray tracing. Let's see what the red team will bring to gamers.

The key features of these patents are the trace of rays based on the neural network, bypass and boundaries of the procedural shader, a bypass of the structure of ray trace based on working elements and compressing geometry with losses using inter -polished normals for use in construction and rendering BVH.

if To go into details, tracing of rays based on a neural network is similar to what Nvidia makes with neural shadeers. AMD seems to be betting on rays tracing for its future equipment. So, theoretically, RDNA5 and the next generation consoles (PS6 and the next Xbox) should be more capable of starting games with rays or even tracing the path.

You can find links to all AMD RT patents here. All of them have brief descriptions, so you can find out what AMD is trying to achieve with their help.
