An expert on the history of Ancient Rome called the second "Gladiator" nonsense
Shadi Bartsch, a historian specializing in Ancient Rome, in a special article by The Hollywood Reporter called the sequel to “Gladiator” “complete Hollywood nonsense.”
The expert did not go into detail, but explained why the picture is very far from reliability and is full of absurd and even stupid mistakes. Separately, Barch stopped at the scene with sharks that fill the waters of the Colosseum.
The historian was also outraged by the scene in which an analogue of a nobleman sits and drinks tea with the morning newspaper. The action is impossible because the printing press was invented only in the fifteenth century.
Ridley Scott is not at all bothered by Barch's indignation. Feature films are artistic for that matter. We all remember his requests to “touch the grass” and “fill up the slurp” during his criticism of “Napoleon.”
