Christopher Nolan refused to continue working with Warner Bros. - even for seven-figure monetary compensation
Variety reports that director Christopher Nolan is very disappointed in Warner Bros. after during the "Tenet" the studio demanded that the director give up part of the box office in exchange for releasing the film in theaters during the pandemic - the company was afraid to risk releasing the film in theaters at that moment.
The director reportedly agreed to refuse in 2020 from part of the profits so that the film would be released in theaters, but after that he also decided to refuse further work with the studio: “Oppenheimer” Christopher Nolan has already released it for Universal Pictures.
Now the new management of Warner Bros. tried to convince the director to work with the studio again on the release of his new film and even offered a seven-figure sum (i.e., at least more than $1 million) as "compensation" for the director's losses from "Tenet", but according to Variety it was to no avail: the director refused both the money and further cooperation with Warner Bros. Most likely, the director will again release his new film in partnership with Universal Pictures.
