"Don't call it God of War, damn it": David Jaffe never came to terms with the fact that Kratos was turned into a father
The last two games in the series, God of War and God of War Ragnarok, are considered more popular due to their greater focus on storytelling. However, the so-called “Norwegian saga” has its detractors, including the creator of the entire series, David Jaffe.
God of War creator David Jaffe admitted that he could not come to terms with when Kratos dedicated himself to the role of Atreus' father. According to him, he lost interest in the game after God of War Ragnarok. Jaffe has repeatedly stated that he disagrees with the way God of War and Ragnarok have changed the direction of the action series, and his main complaint is the Kratos storyline, as he constantly has to deal with personal issues and take care of his son Atreus.< /p>
Yaffe commented on Bruno Velazquez, the game's director, who explained that the Santa Monica Studio team's approach to creating games has changed over time.
In In response to these words, he stated that God of War “I really liked, I thought the 2018 game was great, Ragnarok is not my thing at all, in fact it has the same problem as with Indiana Jones. I don't want these characters to grow up, I don't care what happens to them in the studio." He said he didn't mean to offend anyone, but noted that Steven Spielberg's character's trajectory goes hand in hand with Kratos' trajectory.
Jaffe emphasized that "sometimes someone has to tell them no." , but while he defends the creative freedom Sony has given him, he believes the pursuit of a more emotional Kratos isn't right for the series.
