Former Eidos-Montreal screenwriter shares initial plans for Deus Ex: Mankind Divided sequel
During a recent podcast, Marc Cecere, a former screenwriter for Eidos-Montreal, shared original plot details prepared for the sequel to Deus Ex: Mankind Divided.
Mark Cecere is known for Deus Ex: Mankind Divided and Human Revolution. Shadow of the Tomb Raider and Watch Dogs: Legion. He recently appeared on a podcast hosted by From Script to Life. Cecere worked at Eidos-Montreal for 10 years as a senior writer and narrative designer and left Eidos in 2018. At one point, he tried to return to the project to help finish Jensen's story, but things didn't go well.
So, what was supposed to happen according to the original plans? Adam Jensen wouldn't be able to completely defeat the Illuminati, but he would come close. Jensen's actions may have influenced the rise of Bob Page as the powerful villain players faced in the original Deus Ex game. The creators wanted to connect the two eras of the franchise: to conclude Jensen's storyline and begin a series of events leading to the world of 2052, depicted in the classic Deus Ex.
Last year, Eidos Montreal lost 97 employees as part of Embracer Group's restructuring campaign. The studio's new game was subsequently cancelled.
