Gabe Newell, the founder of Valve, turned 62 years old - thousands of fans joined in the congratulations
On November 3, Gabe Newell turned 62 years old. Fans also decided to congratulate the creator of the Steam store and Valve on this significant event. About 3 thousand people have already joined in the congratulations.
Many PC players consider Gabe Newell to be the real savior of the PC platform: it was thanks to his Steam store that the PC market got rid of physical copies of games as such, and many players joined to the culture of shopping - this was largely facilitated by the presence of regional prices on Steam, which was not the case, for example, on consoles. In addition, Valve and Gabe Newell had a hand in the creation of such cult franchises as: Half-Life, Portal, Left 4 Dead, Counter-Strike and Dota 2.
In the 2000s and 1900s, many major publishers believed that piracy was flourishing on the PC, and a number of console games were passing by on PC players, by now even large platform holders such as Sony and Microsoft had turned their attention to PC players. The same thing happened with Japanese publishers: Capcom, Konami, Square Enix and Sega now regularly release their games on PC - and each of them does it through Steam.
Fans are sure that for now Gabe Newell is at the helm of Steam - the store remains in good hands. All that remains is to wish Newell good health, long life and enthusiasm to finally release a worthy continuation in the Half-Life franchise.
