Need For Speed: Underground 2 celebrates its anniversary - the cult racing game is 20 years old
On this day, November 9, exactly 20 years ago, one of the cult racing games was released - Need For Speed: Underground 2 from the Black Box studio and Electronic Arts.
The second part was a development of the ideas of the original games, offering players an open world with the possibility of free driving, expanded tuning options, as well as a continuation of the storyline dedicated to racer Ryan Cooper, now in the fictional city of Bayview.
Special mention deserves the game's excellent soundtrack, many songs acquired real cult status among fans after the game's release: Lil Jon & The East Side Boyz - Get Low, Snoop Dogg & The Doors - Riders On The Storm, Skindred - Nobody and a number of other equally cool compositions that gave the necessary drive to the game.
Over the years, the game has received numerous modifications, graphical improvements, and a fan from Russia is now completely is developing an unofficial remake of the game on Unreal Engine 5:
Unfortunately, you probably shouldn’t expect an official remake from the publisher. In addition to the need to license music and cars, the developers will clearly be faced with a serious dilemma: releasing a game with cars from the 2000s will now look strange, and replacing them with modern analogues will seriously harm the atmosphere and feelings of fans of the original game.
< p>Need For Speed: Underground 2 is one of those games that fans probably strongly associate with pleasant memories from childhood and an entire era - it’s simply not possible to repeat this now.
