Skyrim mods add support for large-scale shading and cloud shadows
The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim received two new mods aimed at improving graphics. The first of these adds support for large-scale occlusion for the entire game, and the second introduces cloud shadows.
Skylighting creates a soft shading effect under buildings and dense forests. This improves contrast and realism in areas without direct lighting. Thus, you will get a more realistic image with a more advanced lighting system.
Previously, players could enable AO through ENBSeries. The problem with this solution was that the ENBSeries only lit from one direction. Community Shaders makes lighting from any direction possible. Moreover, SkyLighting does not depend on the information on the screen. Thus, it will not change when the camera moves.
As for the second mod, Cloud Shadows, it adds shadows from clouds. Cloud shadows are aligned to the sun using a real cloud system rather than a scrolling texture. Cloud shadows are also used for volumetric lighting, which means the sun's rays can also be blocked.
