According to a survey, most gamers prefer single-player games
Currently, the gaming industry is divided between creating online games (mainly Gaas) and creating good old-fashioned single-player games. But what do gamers themselves prefer?
According to a new survey conducted by MIDiA Research (based on 9 thousand people worldwide), it was found that despite the large number of online games on the market, the public -still prefers single-player games.
According to the data, 53% of players prefer single-player games, while the rest, which is 47%, prefer multiplayer games, including modes such as PvE, co-op and online PvP .
At the same time, the data also shows that older audiences aged 25 to 55+ prefer single-player games the most, while younger audiences aged 16 to 24 prefer multiplayer games.
Those responsible for the study even note that while several single-player game studios have been forced to make games as a service, chasing trends hasn't paid off. Among those studios, the report mentions Sega with Creative Assembly's Hyenas, which was cancelled, as well as PlayStation, which did the same with Naughty Dog's The Last of Us Online after years of development.
Games also mentioned as services that were released and became huge failures: Crystal Dynamics (Marvel's Avengers), BioWare and EA (Anthem), Platinum Games (Babylon's Fall) and Arkane with Microsoft (Redfall).
Meanwhile, single-player games are breaking sales records, such as the famous giant IPs Zelda and Spider-Man, as well as new IPs Elden Ring and Black Myth Wukong.
