Chinese Tencent is considering the possibility of buying Ubisoft: both parties are already negotiating
The Guillemot family and Tencent are in talks about a possible buyout of Ubisoft with the aim of turning the French publisher into a private company, Bloomberg reports. The main goal of the discussions is to stabilize Ubisoft, whose shares have fallen sharply in recent years. A buyout could be one solution in which the Guillemot family retains control of the company and strengthens its position.
Currently, the Guillemot family owns about 20% of Ubisoft shares, while Tencent controls about 10%. Such an alliance could increase the influence of both parties on the development of the publisher.
There have also been reports that Krafton, the developer of PUBG, is showing interest in buying Ubisoft, which could create competition in the buyout process. Negotiations are still at an early stage and there are no confirmations of any deals, but the situation around Ubisoft remains dynamic.
