Todd Howard admitted that the idea of creating "1000 worlds" in Starfield was wrong
Have you forgotten about the famous thousand planets to explore in Starfield, which Todd Howard talked about before the game's release? In a new video appearing on BAFTA's YouTube channel, the producer again touched on this rather controversial topic, admitting that Bethesda went down the wrong path.
Remembering the studio's biggest hits, Howard spoke about his tasks as a game director and about the very stage of development of large-scale projects, taking Starfield as an example. According to the creator, the space role-playing game was a complex and difficult project for the team - for example, the biggest challenge was generating thousands of planets. As a result, the problem was solved, but at that time it was not a very good idea, as a Bethesda representative emphasized.
At one time, many Starfield players more than once complained about planets on which “there is nothing.” And there were a lot of such objects, which was terribly annoying when exploring. Of the stated 1000 worlds, only 100 have life in one form or another, which means that approximately 90% of all planets were probably generated, as Todd Howard said.
Recall that the first major expansion for Starfield, Shattered Space will be released on September 30, 2024 for PC and Xbox Series X/S. It will feature a new story campaign, which, among other things, will tell about the Va'Ruun clan.
