Unity Shows Off Unity 6 with Time Ghost Demo

Unity has shared a new technical demo that shows off the capabilities of the latest version of the Unity 6 engine, called Time Ghost. This demo features impressive visuals and graphics.

The developers stated that the demo uses the latest updates in HDRP, better lighting with APV, scenario mixing and smoke lighting. It also runs faster thanks to improvements like GPU Resident Drawer. Unity used machine learning to deform the fabric. The ML model was trained with 2000 frames of vertex animation, which reduced the data from 2.5 GB to a 47 MB ​​model. This allows warping to be done in as little as 0.8ms per frame.

Finally, Unity will release Unity 6 on October 17.
